all my little plans and schemes - nothing but a bunch of dreams. all i really needed to do - was maybe some love. i don't expect you to understand - the kingdom of heaven is in your hand. i don't expect you to wake from your dreams - too late for pride now it seems. why must we be alone? it's real, love - yes, it's real. -- john lennon

yarrrrr

i would like to take this moment to say that i am in a good disposition today. my apologies for the generally emo posts of late. obviously life isn't all cherries and jello, but in general things aren't always as bad as they seem.
it seems third north is on a disney fettish, myself included. tonight we watched pocahontas (which was good since it's been all of three weeks since i last viewed it) and the hunchback of notre dame, which i ashamedly had never seen before. it was quite amazing -- i do enjoy the music in this movie and it has a lot of theological issues in it. it's always interesting to watch these kid movies when you're older; it's neat how much deeper shizzle-nizzle you pick out. yes, i just used the words "deep" and "shizzle-nizzle" in the same sentence. live with it.
yes, then we played pop culture trivial pursuit, which was not my forte. i think i knew the answers of like two of the questions. but i will say with quite a large measure of pride that i definitely won lord of the rings trivial pursuit last weekend, which was no small task given the stark competition. heh heh. i knew my moment in the sun would come sooner or later.
i do love my wingies. they are such beautiful people. i sound like a hippie. beautiful people. yar har. speaking of yar har, i hope you all are getting ready for the big day: yes, september 19th, international talk like a pirate day! p.s. WHAT is the pirates faaaavorite color of jello? charrrrrrrrrtreuse. that's right.
so i had my first violin lesson this morning. i've come to the conclusion that one prerequisite for being a music teacher is the ability to conjure up absolutely ridiculous analogies at the drop of a hat. my teacher-de-violin is no exception. today when we were working on my lou harrison concerto he told me that i needed to play "as if i were performing for a group of deaf music transcribers." i'm just gonna let you guys figure this one out for yourselves. and please, let me know what you come up with.
this is officially the latest i've been up since i've been here. it's amazing how i've managed to be in bed at more or less midnight every night so far. knock on wood.
oh, and one more thing, i just wanted to add that we, the women of third north (plus jaimi) invented an incredible new sport this evening: ladder passing. that's right. it's pretty much the awesomest thing since that one guy who could totally bend his arm like around his other arm in a strange fashion.
oh, and dang it, ONE more thing, i promise - i would definitely recommend checking out "darth blogger" under my links. unless for some reason you're not a freak like me, in which case, what are you doing reading this anyway? ciao.
